HAWK: Air Mass Dynamics and Post Flight Analysis

Part 1 (H. Meyr, P. Huang) presents the HAWK system, which calculates air mass dynamics in real time. The alignment of the sensor unit axes with the aircraft axes is critical, which is why the electronic compensation of angle differences is addressed. Part 2 (H. Kindl) examines the post-flight analysis of IGC files. Using Matlab/Python evaluation programs, detailed insights into flight performance are gained to support glider pilots in optimization.

The lecture is rounded off with important safety information to ensure that photography in the cockpit is not only creative but also responsible.
